Bolton manager Owen Coyle has identified New York Red Bulls defender Tim Ream as a possible replacement for Chelsea-bound Gary Cahill.
Ream, 24, is tipped to move to Bolton once Chelsea confirm the signing of Cahill, who is expected to more than double his salary with a move to London.
“Tim Ream is a fantastic player and one I like, as do a number of clubs,” Coyle told The Telegraph.
“It was only in the summer that Arsenal tried to bring him in. He was here with us for a week and at West Brom as well.”
“I know Roy Hodgson was very keen to do something with him.”
“It tells you the quality of player he is and it is one, of course, that we will continue to pursue.”
“We’re still pursuing new signings as vigorously as we were last week and we’re hopeful there will be one new face in the club by next week.”
The financial reward and the presence of fellow American Stuart Holden both play into Bolton’s favour in their pursuit.
