Reasons Everton Will Stay Up in the Premier League this Season

Everton are currently stuck in the drop zone after receiving a ten-point deduction for breaching Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules. Having last played in the second tier 70 years ago, the Toffees have played more top-flight games than any other clubs and so relegation would be a seismic shift for the club.

However, despite sitting in the bottom three, the Blues can be positive. Here are the reasons Everton will stay up in the Premier League this season.

Experience of Beating the Drop

Despite the Goodison Park club’s longevity in the top-flight they have come dangerously close to being relegated in the past two seasons. Under Frank Lampard, Everton came from two goals down to defeat Crystal Palace to survive with only a game to spare while in 2023, Sean Dyche’s men only sealed safety with a last day victory over Bournemouth.

This time around, with 15 games left to play, the club are well aware of what is required to get the job done again.

Everton have Shown they can Win Games

But for the points deduction, the Toffees would sit 12th in the table having won eight and drawn five of their 23 matches this season. Earning more victories than eight other clubs should give Everton the confidence that if they continue the same form, they will climb out of the relegation zone and away to the safety of mid-table mediocrity.

Football followers confident Sean Dyche’s side can continue their solid run can compare and assess odds at different online betting sites before placing a wager on the Blues to stay up. By looking at the various platforms, bettors can analyse how to back the team and make an informed decision.

Everton have been particularly impressive on the road, winning away at Brentford, West Ham, Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest and Burnley already this season. If the Blues can gain consistency at Goodison Park, they will surely gather enough points to see them safe.

The Toffees Possess Quality Players

Everton have struggled for a number of seasons owing to a poor recruitment strategy but that is not to say the team lacks talent and quality. On paper, at least, the Merseyside club boast plenty of Premier League experience and knowhow..

In goal, Jordan Pickford is also England number one and has kept more clean sheets this campaign than any other stopper. In defence, the solid and dependable James Tarkowski is partnered by Jarrad Branthwaite, a talented young defender who has been tipped for the top and is already excelling in the Premier League. In midfield, James Garner and Amadou Onana are two huge talents while Dwight McNeil and Arnaut Danjuma possess quality out wide. Upfront, Everton can rely on Dwight Calvert-Lewin while calling on Beto and Youssef Chermiti from the bench.

The team have been beset by injuries during the first half of the campaign and so manager Dyche will be hopeful of being able to call on his star performers more regularly in the run up through to May. Despite the disappointment of being knocked out of the League Cup and FA Cup, full focus on the league campaign could benefit Everton in the end.

Two Relegation Places Look to have been Filled

Of course, football is a funny old game and a lot can change in a week let alone three months. However, as it stands, it appears Sheffield United and Burnley face a real uphill task to avoid an immediate return to the Championship.

The Blades, who are bottom and ten points from safety, have suffered an 8-0 thrashing and 5-0 defeat at home and the -40 goal difference is not at all helpful in their plight. Despite changing manager with the return of Chris Wilder to Bramall Lane, it appears they lack the quality to mount a great escape.

The Clarets, meanwhile, are seven points off 17th place and have won just three matches all season. Vincent Kompany’s men would need to go on an incredible run to catch up and judging by results so far, it could be beyond them.

That leaves Everton battling Luton, who many backed for relegation but are a side fighting and scrapping for every point and earning results, Nottingham Forest and Brentford, who are stuttering but could be boosted by the return of Ivan Toney. Crystal Palace, too, have hit a rough patch and could also be dragged into trouble.

Everton could get Points Back

Despite the setback earlier in the season, Everton have appealed the punishment and deduction and depending on the outcome could receive points back. If the club was to receive the full amount, the Toffees would sit comfortably in mid-table. Even receiving half of the points back would see them climb up to 14th.

In spite of the points deduction however, Everton will feel they have enough to mount a serious fight for survival and hope they can avoid a third straight late escape.
