Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp says he is hopeful of returning to duty soon after undergoing heart surgery.
The Spurs boss had a successful procedure to unblock his coronary arteries on Wednesday and will miss at least Thursday’s Europa League tie against Rubin Kazan while he recovers.
“I feel fine. I expect to be back soon,” he said.
Redknapp’s assistant Kevin Bond will take charge of the team in Russia, and is preparing to do the same against Fulham on Sunday in the Premier League, although the ex-Portsmouth manager is expected to be back for that fixture.
“I’ve spoken to [his son] Jamie and he says he’s fine. Absolutely fine,” Bond said.
“I’m not a medical person, so I may be the wrong person to ask but I only expect him to be out for days.”
Redknapp was admitted to hospital on Tuesday night and is due to be discharged by Thursday.
