Redknapp plans Tottenham clearout

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is looking to sell up to eight players before the transfer window shuts, according to Daily Telegraph.

Spurs currently have 27 players over the age of 21 and seeing they can only register 25 of them, the club are looking to sell some of the fringe players.

Tottenham have only sold Jamie O’Hara and Robbie Keane this summer, and they are looking to push few more players towards the White Hart Lane exit.

Peter Crouch and Wilson Palacios are some of the high-profile players who would be allowed to leave for a right price and there are reports that Stoke are willing to offer up to £17 million for the pair.

Alan Hutton, Sebastien Bassong, David Bentley and Jermaine Jenas will also be allowed to leave, while Redknapp could decide to keep Niko Kranjcar at the club with a view to his current midfield crisis.

The experienced manager is hoping to raise some extra transfer funds by selling the aforementioned players, so that he could try and make few more big name signings before the transfer window closes.

    – Keep Hutton & Bassong, we will need the defensive cover at some point, always do…

    – Offload Bentley & Jenas, they are too average and don’t really fit anywhere in our playing set up with dynamic wingers and a playmaker in front of one or two midfielders.

    – Krancjar is class and can play on the wing or as playmaker, give him some playing time so we can rest Modric & Bale & Lennon more.

    – Palacios can leave if Huddlestone and/or Sandro can be counted on to hold the midfield… not entirely convinced.

    – Crouch leaving would free up our playing style and start using the passing game more. Defoe will benefit and start scoring again IF he has a decent striker partner – perhaps Adebayor is a good call after all?

Still think we are a goalscoring centre forward away from that 4th place finish, Adebayor might turn out to be the answer, though Falcao or Huntelaar would have been my preferred targets…
