Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is adamant Jermain Defoe will not be sold in January.
The England international has fallen down the pecking order behind Emmanuel Adebayor and Rafael van der Vaart and it was reported that he was pondering a January exit.
However, Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp says that Defoe is still an important part of the squad.
“He will not be sold – I think he is a fantastic striker,” Redknapp was quoted as saying in The Mirror.
“He scored five times for the reserves against Charlton in midweek with some incredible finishing. He is a top player who is just unlucky.
“The team is playing well and I can’t change it. I spoke to him in midweek. He will get his opportunity I am sure, and when he does, I am sure he will take it.”
