(GSM) – Chelsea star Frank Lampard has joined the calls for Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp’s to be appointed the next England manager.
Bolton Wanderers boss Owen Coyle had revealed his belief that Redknapp would be the best successor for current England manager Fabio Capello.
Capello is set to leave the post and retire from football management in 2012 and Redknapp is among the favorites to succeed the Italian.
And with Liverpool boss rival job candidate Roy Hodgson’s star fading with the struggling Reds, Lampard believes his uncle would be the best man for the job.
“Harry’s the best choice. For me, it’s got to be him,” Lampard told The Sun.
“Obviously, I’d be very proud if he is the next England boss because of the family connection.
“If we’re looking for a home-grown manager next, Harry’s definitely the one.
“Six months ago people would have said Roy Hodgson, he was the favorite but not now.
“Look where he’s taking Tottenham right now.
“Who can argue with this week’s performance against the European champions Inter Milan?
“And remember what he did at Portsmouth and West Ham before that.”
