(GSM) – Tottenham Harry Redknapp has revealed that he would like to keep Eidur Gudjohnsen at White Hart Lane permanently.

The striker was instrumental in Spurs’ 2-1 win at Stoke on Saturday, scoring the opener and offering a step-over assist in Niko Kranjcar’s winner after Matthew Etherington had equalised from the penalty spot.

Gudjohnsen’s goal, which came after he replaced the injured Roman Pavlyuchenko, was his first since he left Barcelona for Monaco last summer before joining Spurs on a temporary basis in the winter transfer window.

Redknapp was full of praise for the former Chelsea star and has now confirmed that he will talk with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy about attempting to make the move permanent.

The Spurs boss said: “I want to keep him here next year. He’s a real top player and he’s got fantastic ability. With Jermain Defoe out injured he has got a big part to play.

“The chairman did the deal for him and I don’t know the details, but we are certainly interested. The rest of the lads like him and they really love playing with him.”
