Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp is wary of his side slipping up in their pursuit of the Premier League title.
Spurs have lost just one of their past 18 league outings and sit joint second with Manchester United, three points behind leaders Manchester City and eight points clear of fourth-placed Chelsea.
They welcome relegation-threatened Wolves to White Hart Lane on Saturday, but Redknapp has warned his players not to lose concentration.
“It can change. I’ve seen so many changes in league positions over the years,” Redknapp said.
“Eight points can evaporate very quickly. I still look at the teams behind. I look at Chelsea and Liverpool and Arsenal and realise that they’re good sides who are capable of putting a run together and eight point leads over them isn’t impossible for them to overturn.”
“We’re just taking it as it comes really. We’ve got a difficult game tomorrow with Wolves and you just can’t afford to slip up. One or two defeats and things can turn very quickly.”
With the transfer window reopened this month, Spurs have been linked with several new signings, namely Newcastle striker Demba Ba and Marseille attacker Loic Remy.
But Redknapp has cast doubt over any potential purchases in January, saying that highly rated players are difficult to acquire in the middle of the season.
“If you could find someone who could make the difference, then we’d go for them,” the 64-year-old said.
“If there was someone out there who we could get in who could tip the balance for us, then I’d get them but I don’t know where they are.”
“You’re not going to go and get top players in this country who would make a difference. The top clubs aren’t going to sell you one of their best players, are they? I don’t see us doing much in the transfer window.”
