Liverpool are favourites to sign Derby County midfielder Will Hughes during this month’s transfer window, according to the Daily Star.
The Reds are ahead of Premier League rivals Arsenal and Manchester United in the race to sign the England U21 international, who is one of the most sought after prospects in the country.
Derby club officials have said that the club have no intention of selling Hughes, though bookmakers have made Merseyside his most likely destination for the end of January.
Brendan Rogers’ side were originally linked with a move for the 18 year old in the summer though no bid was made.
He has appeared in all but one of Derby’s league games this season, scoring three goals for the East Midlands side.
The Rams currently sit in fourth place in the Championship, seven points behind leaders Leicester City, who they face at the King Power Stadium tomorrow evening.
The visitors are priced at 11/4 to get what would be their eleventh win in fifteen league games under Steve McClaren.
