(GSM) – Olympique Marseille left-back Taye Taiwo has made it clear to the club that he wants to move away from the French champions. The Nigerian defender is believed to have been involved in a row with coach Didier Deschamps, with the latter insisting that the player honors his contract.
The want-away full-back has a year left on his current contract and is wanted by Liverpool, who have sold Emiliano Insua to Fiorentina. If he is allowed to leave his club, Taiwo’s other possible destination is Atletico Madrid.
The Spanish capital club is thought to be the preferred destination for the defender, but Tottenham Hotspur are also reportedly keen on securing his services.
The 25-year-old is desperate to leave Stade Vélodrome after Gabriel Heinze’s arrival limited his own first-team opportunities.
But club president Jean Claude Dassier and manager Didier Deschamps have previously ruled out any chance of selling the Nigerian.
Still, Taiwo is waiting for the club to “sort it out” as he eyes a move away from France.
Speaking about the situation, Taiwo told skysports.com: “Marseille know where I stand on this issue of a transfer.
“They are the ones who have to sort it out – I made my feelings clear to them.”
