There was a highly controversial moment late in the first half as Juventus strode towards a 1-0 victory at home over AS Roma on Sunday evening. Referee Daniele Orsato blew his whistle and gave the visitors a penalty for a foul on Henrikh Mhitaryan following Tammy Abraham’s run, without waiting to see what Abraham would do with the ball in front of the gaping goal. It seems the experienced official really made a mess of things here, and even the VAR was unable to rectify the situation as the play was stopped before Abraham scored.
To make matters worse for Jose Mourinho’s team, midfielder Jordan Veretout went on to see his spot-kick saved by Wojciech Szczesny.
