The Daily Mirror is today reporting that Liverpool goal-keeper Pepe Reina will not be leaving the club anytime soon, according to the player’s agent.
The Spaniard has been in a poor run of form this season and has been at fault for a number of goals conceded in both the English Premier League and the Europa League.
This form had put some doubts over his future at Anfield, with Brendan Rodgers apparently keen on bringing in Michel Vorm, who he worked with at Swansea of course.
Reina has not had a great deal of competition for his place in the Liverpool goal over recent years – which could be one of the reasons for his poor performances as he has not been put any real pressure.
But, the Spanish international wants to stay at Anfield and if that means fighting for his place if another keeper comes in, then so be it.
His agent highlighted the fact that if Reina does return to form – then all the transfer speculation will go away and he will once again be loved by the Liverpool faithful.
Rodgers could still make a move for Vorm in January though, but the Swans will want a big fee.
