Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina says his side wants to be crowned Premier League champions after strengthening the squad.
The Reds used to be regular contenders but in recent years have dropped off the pace, with the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City rising above them in the table.
At this stage last season, Liverpool were 16th in the league table, having taken just 12 points from 10 matches. But the return of Kenny Daglish to Anfield seems to have given the club a new lease of life.
“We are a much better team than last season,” he told reporters.
“We have strength in the team and the squad and it has become competitive right now. It is just the first step we have to take in a long-term project.”
“Things are improving but we want to be even better and at some point be champions of the Premier League again.”
Liverpool are currently on a seven-match unbeaten run in all competitions, with their last defeat against Tottenham Hotspur in mid-September.
Dalglish will be hoping that his side can extend that run against Swansea City at Anfield on Saturday.
