Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina has no interest in departing Anfield to take up the vacant No.1 jersey at Atletico Madrid.
The La Liga club are searching for a gloveman to replace David de Gea, who is putting the final touches on a 17-million-pound transfer to Manchester United.
Reina, the son of famed Atletico custodian Miguel Reina, has inevitably been drawn into the conversation about who will replace the Spain Under-21 international.
But the 28-year-old has been quick to shoot down such talk, saying he is committed to Liverpool until his contract ends in 2016.
“I know Atletico are looking for a goalkeeper, but I won’t be changing colours,” he told La Gaceta.
“I have a five-year contract and I’m happy at Liverpool.”
Reina also welcomed the arrival of De Gea to the English Premier League, where he predicts the highly rated goalkeeper will make quite a splash at the reigning champions.
“I very much welcome this news because David is a great keeper,” he said.
“When it becomes official, he is going to start working to prove in the Premier League what a good goalkeeper he is.”
Meanwhile, Sochaux midfielder Ryad Boudebouz has hinted at a possible move to Liverpool by saying the English club have asked about his availability.
The Algeria international is coming off a breakout season at club and international level and is believed to be high on Anfield boss Kenny Dalglish’s wish list.
And while the 21-year-old is in no hurry to say goodbye to France, he believes he could be tempted across the English Channel by the right offer.
“Liverpool are a big club and there has been contact,” Boudebouz told L’Est Republicain.
“But I have to take my time, see the (Sochaux) president, discuss things through.”
“I plan on being at pre-season training on Wednesday. If there’s a big money offer, perhaps it will be impossible to say no.”
“I don’t want, at all costs, to leave Sochaux, but if there’s an offer, I’ll think about it.”
