Reina welcomes Skrtel-Napoli link

Napoli goalkeeper Pepe Reina has welcomed talk of the club being linked with his former Liverpool teammates Martin Skrtel, the Express understands.

The Slovakia international’s Anfield future has been unclear all summer after falling out of favour under manager Brendan Rodgers during the second half of last season.

He started just four league games in 2013, losing his place to the now retired Jamie Carragher, and would next season be in competition with new arrival Kolo Toure.

Napoli manager Rafael Benitez brought Skrtel to England in 2007 whilst in charge of Liverpool, and is keen to be reunited with the 28 year old, as is Reina, knows only too well his qualities having played with him for six years on Merseyside.

Benitez has been busy in the transfer market since arriving in Italy, with the Spaniard signing a whole host of new players as he looks to build on the clubs second place finish in Serie A last season.
