Lazio boss Edy Reja is expecting an emotional return to Napoli on Sunday.
Reja, 65, spent four years as manager of the Naples-based club and guided them to two promotions, which saw them end up in Serie A.
The manager is viewed as a legend by the San Paolo Stadium crowd and admits this weekend’s match will be special for him.
“I’ll be emotional on Sunday,” Reja told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“I gave a lot and received a lot at Napoli. I have only been at Lazio for a year: perhaps they still don’t know me.”
But Reja is still pleased with Lazio’s season, with the club sitting fifth, eight points behind table-toppers AC Milan.
“I am proud of what I am doing,” he said.
“I have a great relationship with Claudio Lotito (owner and president) and the team. I hope to reach the same level of consideration in the future.”
“We are fighting for two objectives. If things go badly we’ll end up in the Europa League and that wouldn’t be a bad achievement.”
“I am giving my all. I am working with enthusiasm.”
