Lazio coach Edy Reja was happy to share the spoils with Catania on Sunday, admitting his side could easily have lost the Serie A clash.
Lazio missed the chance to make up ground on league-leaders AC Milan after they were held to a 1-1 draw against the mid-table Catania at the Stadio Olimpico, but still retain second spot on the table.
And Reja was upbeat about the result given his side were not at their best.
“We are an agile team,” Reja said. “It’s difficult to play against sides who sit back and defend like Catania.”
“Our self-esteem increases after this because we could have lost. Considering the match and the result, we’ve gained one point.”
“We could have stayed close to Milan (in the title race). Let’s put it this way: two games in a row have been difficult to win at home, so we’ll try and beat Inter on Friday.”
Lazio travel to the San Siro to face Rafael Benitez’s Inter Milan on Friday.
