Lazio coach Edy Reja has urged his side not to be complacent against Lecce when the two sides meet in Saturday’s Serie A action.
The Rome-based club head into the weekend sitting in fourth place and are heavy favourites to defeat the bottom side in Italy’s top tier.
But Reja is adamant his men must not underestimate their opponents and also praised their new coach, Serse Cosmi.
“Let’s go to Lecce and impose our game. We have to enter the field with the right mentality,” Reja told Corriere dello Sport.
“We know all about Cosmi’s experience. He will have a strong impact on his players and will get them motivated.”
Reja, 66, spoke about his former club Napoli, who qualified for the Champions League last 16 on Wednesday after becoming the first Italian side to win at Villarreal’s El Madrigal.
“I was part of the initial project. Players like Lavezzi are doing extraordinary things. Praise has to go to (Napoli chairman Aurelio) De Laurentiis for committing money, and now (coach Walter) Mazzarri who is doing a brilliant job,” he said.
Reja has been in charge of Lazio since February 2010, leading the club to a fifth-place finish last season.
