Australia’s David Carney is one of 11 players released from relegated Premier League outfit Blackpool.
Carney, 27, initially signed a one-year deal with the club with the option to extend, but that hasn’t been activated.
He made just 11 appearances for the club after battling a shoulder problem that eventually ended his season prematurely.
It robbed him of a chance to play late in the season as Blackpool battled relegation, a fight which they eventually lost.
“Blackpool Football Club would like to thank all of those players departing for their efforts and wishes them all the very best for the future,” a club statement said.
Carney, who scored the winned against Germany in a 2-1 friendly victory in March, will now be on the hunt for his fourth club in five years, after permanent stints with Sydney FC, Sheffield United, FC Twente and Blackpool.
He joins Richard Kingson, Marlon Harewood, Andy Reid, Danny Coid, Paul Rachubka, Malaury Martin, Rob Edwards, Jason Euell, Salaheddine Sbai and Ishmel Demontagnac as players who will not be at Bloomfield Road next season.
Blackpool have also lost loan players Luke Varney, Jason Puncheon and James Beattie who will return to Derby, Southampton and Rangers respectively.
The club has activated extensions on contracts of several of their first-team players, but will need to make more signings as they attempt to return to the Premier League at the first attempt.
