With the chance to leapfrog Lyon and move into the Champions League positions, a high-flying Saint Etienne will welcome Montpellier to the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard on Friday.

Starting with the hosts, coming off the back of another impressive showing in their 3-2 win away at Monaco last weekend, Saint Etienne are enjoying a remarkable end to the year. With the chance to climb into the Champions League positions and leapfrog Lyon to third spot, Jean-Louis Gasset’s men are unbeaten in their last seven outings, winning six of those contests. Also winning their last four on the bounce and continuing to shine in the final third, one man to watch on Friday will be former Newcastle misfit, Remy Cabella. Spearheading the hosts European push, the 29-year-old found the net against Monaco last weekend and now has four in his last six appearances.

As for the visitors, much like Saint Etienne, Montpellier are enjoying a purple patch at the end of the campaign. While they may have only managed to pick up a point against Amiens last time out, Michel Der Zakarian’s side are unbeaten in their last four and have their own European goals with three games remaining. Despite their eye-catching end to the year, Montpellier will be desperate to improve on their inability to come away with a clean sheet. Friday’s visitors have failed to come away with a clean sheet in any of their last five and have recorded just one since the middle of February.
