Loic Remy’s proposed move to Liverpool has collapsed after the striker failed his medical, the Express understands.
The Merseyside club pulled out of the deal at the eleventh hour for unspecified reasons, though the complications arose following a two day medical assessment in Boston.
It is another blow for Reds boss Brendan Rodgers, who has also learned that he will be without £25m new signing Adam Lallana for six weeks after the midfielder injured his knee.
Liverpool have however completed a deal for defender Dejan Lovren, who has completed his move from Southampton following fellow ex-Saints men Lallana and Rickie Lambert.
They have been linked with moves for Swansea City’s Wilfried Bony and Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku, but Rodgers has insisted that he is in no rush to bring in a new striker, despite losing Luis Suarez to Barcelona.
Liverpool begin the new season against Southampton at Anfield two weeks on Sunday, where they can be backed at 2/5 for the win.
