Remy’s Benevento move called off?

According to a recent report from Sky Sports, Loic Remy’s proposed move to Serie A newcomers Benevento has fallen through as a result of a medical issue.

The former Chelsea star agreed to join a free transfer from French side Lille, and had actually passed the first part of his medical earlier in July. Alas, further checks have shown that there is an issue that will prevent Benevento from progressing any further with the deal.

Remy has always been viewed as a player that possessed a great deal of potential in his youth, but was never quite able to live up to the hype in the way many had anticipated. Now, Benevento, who won Serie A, will start to try and turn their attention towards a string of other high profile names that they’re reportedly going after.

Either way, you can tell they’re going to put a lot of resources behind their effort to stay in the league next season.
