L’Equipe has learned that Rennes are the latest Ligue 1 side to have joined the race for Lyon midfielder Yoann Gourcuff.
The highly rated footballer will be leaving les Gones when his contract expires at the end of the month and it looks as though he will be staying in France.
But, while his former club Bordeaux have long ago expressed interest, they have yet to present the 28-year-old a concrete offer.
According to the latest reports, Rennes will attempt to take advantage of the situation and lure Gourcuff to Stade de la Route de Lorient.
The midfielder is currently on holiday in native Brittany and les Bretons chairman Rene Ruello will attempt to persuade the player to join Rennes this summer.
Gourcuff will be desperate to kick start his career following a largely disappointing spell with Lyon, and the fact he is available on a free transfer will probably take some pressure off his back.
