Rennes chief denies M’Vila offers
Rennes general manager Pierre Dreossi has rejected claims that midfielder Yann M’Vila will be leaving the club this summer.
The France international has been linked with a number of high profile clubs, including Real Madrid, but it looks as though he will remain at Stade de la Route de la Lorient at least for another season.
Les Bretons managed to persuade the 20-year-old into extending his contract until June 2015, meaning that he will not be moving clubs this summer.
“M’Vila isn’t going, we have agreed with the boy to sign a one-year extension and to stay,” Dreossi told Marca.
“The player’s head is here and he himself has said that he doesn’t want to move.
”Madrid have not called us, but even if they had I wouldn’t have listened to their offer.”
The 20-year-old midfielder has already earned a starting spot in France national team and he believes that it is still too early for him to leave les Bretons.
“I want to play in the European Championship and I think the best way to ensure that is to continue at Rennes,” M’Vila was quoted as saying.
“At my age, many kids have already gone to earn money, but I have to continue my development with the coach who knows me best, Frederic Antonetti.”
Lille forward edges closer to Premier League move
Lille chief Frederic Pacquet has hinted that Ivorian striker Gervinho is set for a move to the Premiership by claiming that the star player will not be sold to another French club.
It looks highly unlikely that les Dogues will be able to hold on to their star player amidst interest from a host of Premiership clubs, especially as the player himself has announced his desire to leave Lille.
Arsenal and Liverpool have been hot on the trail of the Ivorian forward, while Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are also keen.
However, Lille director of football Frederic Paquet has revealed that les Dogues will not sell Gervinho to another Ligue 1 club.
“PSG recently enquired about Gervinho, but they were told we do not wish to sell him to a French club,” Paquet told La Voix Du Nord.
The Lille chief admits that a move to the Premiership is a realistic possibility.
“Gervinho’s future is uncertain. He could join an English side, or he could stay with us.
“He has to decide exactly what he wants. We are not opposed to the idea of a transfer, but the agreement has to suit us.
“We have yet to receive an offer or proposal.”
Liverpool target rejects new contract talk
Newcastle defender Jose Enrique has rejected new contract talks, Magpies manager Alan Pardew has revealed.
The Spanish defender is reportedly unsettled at St James Park as he wants to move to a bigger club and he is widely expected to leave the club this summer.
Liverpool have emerged as favourites for his signature and it appears that the former Villarreal star is waiting for an offer from the Reds.
Newcastle boss Alan Pardew admits the player is nearing the exit door.
“At the moment, it looks like he doesn’t want to deal with us,” Pardew told Evening Chronicle.
“We have been asked to make him an offer, but there has been no progress since then. I still hope we can do something but at the moment, we are still waiting for Jose.
“I don’t think there’s anything more I can really add on that situation at this stage.”
The Spaniard looks to have set his sights on leaving the club and he is only looking for the right offer to come along before leaving St James Park.
