Ligue 1 side Rennes had a rather unusual reaction to transfer rumours linking them with the Atletico Madrid striker Fernando Torres.
L’Equipe reported that former Liverpool and Chelsea forward was unhappy with his role in the team following the arrival of Diego Costa, adding that the 33-year-old striker was even offered to Rennes.
Fernando Torres made 15 La Liga appearances this season, scoring just two goals during that time. The Spaniard responded to claims he was leaving the Colchineros with a goal against Las Palmas this weekend with Rennes posting a reply of their own.
The French side took it to Twitter to respond to Fernando Torres transfer claims by posting a well-humoured Cristiano Ronaldo GIF.
“Fernando Torres proposed to Rennes! Why not Iniesta, Benzema and Ronaldo?”, the message wrote.
