Italian media outlet Il Corriere dello Sport has learned that Rennes have rejected a serious offer from Watford for star player Abdoulaye Doucoure.
The 22 year old is the latest quality footballer to have come out of one of Europe’s most famous youth academies and he has already left his mark on the senior squad.
After impressing at the start of his career at Rennes, Doucoure managed to catch the eye of high-profile clubs and was the subject of an official proposal from Premier League outfit Watford this summer.
However, Rennes officials did not believe a €7 million offer corresponded to the midfielder’s current value and denied the Hornets an opportunity to recruit the highly rated footballer.
Abdoulaye Doucoure has so far managed 13 goals and 14 assists in 74 competitive appearances for the club, and everything suggests the France Under-21 international will soon be joining a top European side.
