With the chance to climb to the top of the Western Conference, USL high-flyers Reno 1868 will make the trip to Orange County on Wednesday night.

Starting with the hosts, after playing out a lackluster 0-0 draw against fellow strugglers San Antonio last time out, Orange County find themselves in the midst of a real struggle in America’s second-tier. Now managing to record just a single victory since the 2nd of June, an eight-match run, a huge part of their continued problems has come down to their performances in California. Along with once again failing to make an impact against San Antonio last weekend, Paul Caligiuri’s men have not recorded a single home victory in their last four attempts and have recorded just one home goal in over 400 minutes of action.

As for the visitors, while Orange County might be enduring a freefall down the Western Conference, Reno 1868 find themselves enjoying quite the resurge. Putting in another dominant display in their 2-1 win away at LA Galaxy II last weekend, they are now enjoying a five-match winning run, Head Coach Ian Russell will know another victory on Wednesday could see them climb to the top of the West. Along with now enjoying a three-match winning run on their travels, a huge part or Reno’s recent revival has come thanks to their form in the final third. Now scoring two or more goals in each of their previous five victories, they have also bagged seven goals in their three-match winning run outside of Nevada.
