Everton are planning a 2.5 million-pound move for Manchester United midfielder Darron Gibson, according to reports in the UK.
Gibson has made just one English Premier League appearance for Alex Ferguson’s team this season and has already held preliminary talks with Everton, according to The Daily Telegraph.
With a place in the Republic of Ireland squad for Euro 2012 in danger, Gibson’s selection hopes suffered another blow when fellow central midfielder Paul Scholes returned from retirement.
Gibson looked set to join Sunderland in June but could not agree personal terms with the Wearside club.
The 24-year-old has made 60 career appearances for United, and is out of contract at the end of the 2011/12 season.
