Arsenal are believed to be interested in a surprise move for Chelsea forward Daniel Sturridge, according to a report.
The Daily Mail reports that Arsenal’s chief scout Steve Rowley has set in a motion a bid to bring Sturridge to the Emirates, with the striker becoming frustrated at Stamford Bridge.
The 22-year-old Sturridge has enjoyed a productive season for Chelsea so far having scored 10 goals, more than any other forward has managed at the club.
He gained further praise for his performance in the 3-3 draw against Manchester United last weekend, troubling Patrice Evra throughout and creating the first goal by forcing the ball in off defender Jonny Evans.
However, it is alleged that he wants a move from his current position as a right-winger to a central role, which is regularly occupied by Fernando Torres or Didier Drogba at Chelsea.
Sturridge is also said to be disappointed that the club have not opened talks over extending his contract with two-and-a-half years left on his current deal.
