Reports: El Hamdaoui to join Fiorentina

Ajax striker Mounir El Hamdaoui is reportedly on the verge of joining Serie A outfit Fiorentina.

The Morocco international, who made his name with AZ before joining the Eredivisie champions, won the Dutch Footballer of the Year award in 2008/09.

Despite this, the 27-year-old has become a fringe figure at the Amsterdam ArenA this term with coach Frank de Boer overlooking the African marksman, and Sky Sports 24 have reported that he has flown to Italy for a medical.

Italian press report Delio Rossi’s men are eager to bolster their attacking options after the departure of Alberto Gilardino to Genoa and, despite the addition of Amauri at the Stadio Artemio Franchi, El Hamdaoui appears set to be recruited.

A fee has not yet been mentioned and there has been no confirmation from either party.
