Jim Jefferies has been sacked as manager of Scottish Premier League club Hearts, according to reports.

News outlets Sky Sports and STV have announced that both Jefferies and assistant manager Billy Brown have been stood down by the club, after a horror run of league results that has seen Hearts winless since March.

The 60-year-old Jefferies was reportedly offered a role to continue as director of football to compensate for his sacking.

Hearts – widely considered as the best club to realistically challenge powerhouse sides Celtic and Rangers – sit in ninth place, with just one point to show from their opening two matches.
