Claudio Ranieri is favourite to succeed Gian Piero Gasperini as coach of Serie A club Inter Milan.

The former Chelsea, Roma and Juventus is reportedly the leading candidate to inherit the post at San Siro amid rumours that Massimo Moratti is ready to confirm the Roman as club manager within 48 hours.

Gasperini was dismissed on Wednesday after his disastrous five-match reign was brought to a quick end after a 3-1 defeat to newly promoted Novara.

It is understood that Ranieri tops Moratti’s list to take over at the Nerazzurri, who are in the bottom half of Serie A and lost their Champions League opener against Trabzonspor.
