Competition: Scottish Premier League
Market: Roy Keane to be next Celtic manager
Odds: 2/5 @ Bet 365
Former Celtic player and current Republic of Ireland assistant manager Roy Keane is the bookies’ favourite to be appointed new Celtic manager, following the resignation of Neil Lennon, who won three Scottish Premier League titles.
“I’m sure he’d be a good man for the job. As a player, I think the club needs a big character and he definitely fits the bill. We want a manager as soon as possible because it gets us prepared for the Champions League qualifiers,” said Celtic defender Charlie Mulgrew.
Keane is being given odds of 2/5 with Bet 365, and the 42-year-old has before said he’d be very interested to get back into management. Despite his commitments to the Republic of Ireland, it’s likely Keane would take the Celtic job with immediate effect if offered.
His management career has been somewhat lacking in the last eight years, with just two years each at Sunderland and Ipswich respectively. He took the role with his native country in November last year.
