“Ribery and Robben are likely to play their last year at Bayern”. Those are the words of Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness, who confirmed at a fan event at the weekend that the two legends of the game will likely be leaving the German champions when their contracts expire in the summer.
Arjen Robben has already noted that he’ll be moving on to a new chapter in his career in June, whereas Franck Ribery’s future has been up in the air for months now. Alas, if this latest development is to be believed, the Frenchman will be joining the Dutchman in leaving through the exit door.
Ribery has always been viewed as one of the elite playmakers in the landscape of European football, but has always been quite underrated in some corners of the media. If he does leave, the period of reflection will likely leave many pundits realising just how good he was during his prime.
