France international winger Franck Ribery successfully underwent surgery on his groin at a clinic in Munich on Friday, his club Bayern Munich announced on their website.
The operation took place on Friday morning and took around an hour and a half, the club added.
Ribery must now observe “a period of complete rest for 10 days before being able to start light running,” said Bayern physiotherapist Hans-Wilhelm Muller-Wohlfahrt.
Bayern coach Louis van Gaal has granted three weeks’ holiday to all of his players participating at the World Cup, starting from the elimination of their team.
As France were the first team containing Bayern players to be eliminated, Ribery is expected to be fit for the start of the German season.
