Rice won’t leave West Ham in January – Moyes

West Ham manager David Moyes has openly ruled out the possibility of Declan Rice leaving the club in the January transfer window. His words at the press conference ahead of his team’s Premier League encounter with Brentofrd on Friday were quite clear on that.

“There will be no chance Declan leaves in this window, if that’s what you’re talking about,” he said.

Rice’s stock has risen to great heights over the last couple of seasons. Still only 23 and a 39-cap international, a regular starter for England under Gareth Southgate, Rice combines formidable physical ability with great understanding of the game and maturity which significantly belies his age. In the past few windows he was heavily linked with Chelsea and Manchester United, and more recently with Liverpool.

However, West Ham have always been extremely reluctant to even think about the prospect of losing his services any time soon, and his contract, which expires in 2024 but allows the club to trigger a one-year extension unilaterally, puts them in a very strong position to decline any interest.
