West Ham United have now officially confirmed that Declan Rice has signed a brand new contract with the clubs. The 19 year old’s new contract is set to expire in 2024, with the Hammers also having the option to extend it by one yare. This comes after increased scrutiny and speculation over whether or not he’d remain at the club or look elsewhere, but over the course of the last three years since turning professional, he’s certainly been able to establish himself as something of a fan favourite in East London.
The Hammers have been on a solid run of form lately but there’s still a long way to go before they can be considered a legitimate top half contender, although tying Rice down to a long term deal represents a big step forward.
Rice is also a Republic of Ireland international, making his senior debut for the nation earlier this year.
