(GSM) – Premier League side Manchester City can rely on the services of defender Micah Richards after the 21-year-old returned to training on Tuesday.
The 21-year-old was substituted in the second half at Eastlands after damaging his knee as City ran out as 2-1 victors against Chelsea
The England international had initially thought that he had suffered a serious injury.
However, Richards has made a quicker recovery than expected and trained ahead of City’s league trip to Bolton at the weekend.
“I heard a crack and then the knee gave way and for a moment I thought it was really serious,” he told the club’s official website.
“It was a bit of a worry because it was the right knee, the one on which I had an operation last season. But the pain subsided and fortunately I am fit to train again.
“That is great news because no one wants to miss out. We feel that last week has given us great momentum.
“The two team performances against Arsenal (3-0) and Chelsea were amongst the best for a long time. Everyone was playing well at the same time.
“There was a real determination about our play and we want to go on and use that as a platform for more success.”
