Brazilian outlet UOL Esporte recently reported that a meeting between Richarlison’s agent Renato Velasco and Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp had taken place at his house, and suggested that the purpose of the meeting was a potential transfer of the striker across Stanley Park.
However, first Everton boss Marco Silva laughed at the story, and then Richarlison himself said he was happy with the Toffees.
Now Velasco has come forward too. Talking to Sport Witness, the agent confirmed that the meeting took place, but denied suggestions that it had anything to do with Richarlison. Apparently, Klopp is a close friend of the father of one of Velasco’s other clients, Noah Weisshaupt of Freiburg, and they hadn’t seen each other for a really long time, so Velasco organized a meeting of old friends in his house; nothing more.
There hasn’t been direct transfer business between Everton and Liverpool since Abel Xavier swapped Goodison Park for Anfield in 2002.
