Speaking for the first time since it was announced that Frank Rijkaard would be dismissed at the end of the season, the axed coach has said that he is the person responsible for the lack of trophies at FC Barcelona this season and not club President Joan Laporte.
FC Barcelona have now gone two consecutive seasons without winning a trophy.
Rijkaard has been coach for five seasons.
Questioned by the press about the teamÂ’s performance he added that the fact that the side could not score goals lay squarely on his shoulders and nothing to do with Laporte.
He never criticised any of his players when questioned about Ronaldinho and team spirit.
Whilst in charge FC Barcelona won 166 out of 281 matches with 51 losses.
He concluded by saying that he had full confidence in his replacement Pep Guardiola.
