River Plate vice-president Diego Tunes has revealed that the club have virtually agreed to sign Malaga stars Javier Saviola and Martin Demichelis.
The Argentine footballers will be out of contract at the end of the season and they seem to have agreed to return to River Plate.
Club vice-president Diego Tunes is convinced the two players will be joining River Plate in the summer transfer window.
“We are going to get Demichelis and Saviola, I told them that we will bring them here in June,” Tunes told Fox Sports Radio del Plata.
“The fans forever love them and we are waiting, like Aimar, D’Alessandro…”
The River Plate official was in Malaga last weekend to negotiate a payment plan for the money los Boquerones owe for the transfer of Diego Buonanotte.
He seems to have used the opportunity to also negotiate the return of Martin Demichelis and Javier Saviola.
Demichelis, 32, has enjoyed a very successful career since leaving River Plate in 2003, and after two and a half years at La Rosaleda he looks ready to return to Buenos Aires.
Saviola, 31, left River Plate for Barcelona in 2001, but he hasn’t quite managed to live up to the potential. He did enjoy several very fruitful years at Benfica though.
