Argentine giants River Plate have moved to confirm reports linking star player Manuel Lanzini with a summer move to Europe.
The youngster was recently linked with the likes of Lazio, Roma and Torino, among other clubs, and it appears there is truth in those rumours.
And while River Plate chairman Rodolfo D’Onofrio has denied there has been any contact with Lazio, he has confirmed the club are prepared to entertain offers for the 21-year-old.
“We still haven’t received anything from Lazio and nor from any other team,” D’Onofrio told reporters.
“We only heard what is being said in the press. Of course, we are going to analyse an offer if it comes in. However, we are also going to listen to what the player wants to do.”
Manuel Lanzini has developed into a key player at the Monumental after returning from a loan spell at Fluminense, with Europe’s top clubs taking notice of his latest performances.
The talented footballer has scored a total of 12 league goals over the last two seasons and it appears the time has come to leave River for greener pastures.
His suitors Lazio face Livorno on the road next weekend, and they have been made 6/5 favourites to emerge victorious.
