River Plate have terminated the contract of coach Angel Cappa after the defeat to All Boys, which extended their winless run to seven games.

Cappa held his last training session yesterday morning, following the Sunday’s defeat to All Boys and he was later informed of the decision made by the club’s Directive Committee.

River have slipped to the bottom part of the table after picking up just 5 points from last 7 games, with the club board led by president Daniel Passarella believing the change of personnel could be just the boost the team need before the Superclasico game against Boca Juniors.

Cappa took over the reigns in April from Leonardo Astrada but failed to leave his stamp on the side and will now be replaced with Juan Jose Lopez, former Argentina international.
