Bayern Munich coach Jupp Heynckes has revealed that Arjen Robben’s return from injury will take longer than initially expected.

The Netherlands international was operated on last week to repair muscular damage after it was discovered he had an inguinal hernia.

Bundesliga giants Bayern had announced that it would take Robben 10 days to return to action, but Heynckes says the Dutchman’s recovery will take longer.

“Arjen will need to have 14 days of rest, and then after two weeks a light rehab and running workouts,” Heynckes told Bayern TV.

“An exact timetable (for his recovery) cannot be determined at the moment. I am of the opinion that he will be available in a few weeks – and that is a good thing.”

Robben has already missed several weeks of action this season because of recurring pelvic problems.
