(GSM) – Bayern München had a tought time against Schalke 04 last night and needed an Arjen Robben strike in extra-time to record a 1-0 win and advance to the DFB Pokal final.
Bayern coach Louis van Gaal praised his side and had some sweet words for Robben who has been very important for the Bavarians since his arrival from Real Madrid last summer.
“We dominated the game, both in terms of stamina and the football we played. There was only a quarter of the game, at the start of the second half, when Schalke were better,” said Van Gaal to the official Bayern website.
“We controlled the game in the first half and in extra-time. It was a big performance and I’m very proud of my players.
“Arjen Robben is unbelievable. Producing a goal like that in the blink of an eye is true class.”
Bayern will face Werder Bremen in the final of the DFB Pokal on May 15. Die Grün-Weissen beat Augsburg 2-0 in their semi-final on Tuesday evening.
