Bayern Munich attacker Arjen Robben says he has no intention of hanging up his boots any time soon unless injuries force him out of the game.
The Dutchman revealed earlier this week that he had considered retiring from professional football due to his ongoing fitness worries, but the 28-year-old has now said he will only quit if physical problems leave him no other choice.
“Retiring crossed my mind it because I was disappointed and frustrated that it’s taking this long before I can make my comeback (from a thigh injury),” he told Bild.
“However, I also said that playing football and scoring goals still gives me a lot of pleasure, and that I have no intention to retire voluntarily.
“It’s really frustrating when do you anything possible in order to make sure you can do your job, yet your body doesn’t cooperate.
“Don’t worry, though. I will soon be back on the pitch again. Retiring? Absolutely not.”
Robben has made six appearances in all competitions for Bayern this term.
