Bayern Munich chief Karl-Heinz Rummenigge clarified that his side are keen to keep Arjen Robben beyond 2013.
The Netherlands international has lost his spot in the starting XI at Bayern, but the recent developments have not changed the Bavarians’ stance on Robben’s future, as they are hoping to extend his contract which is due to expire at the end of next season.
“We have no doubts about his abilities. The club are still keen to renew his contract. The recent developments have not changed that,” Rummenigge told TZ.
The former Germany international added that he was pleased with Robben’s substitute performance in Saturday’s 2-0 Bundesliga win over Kaiserslautern.
“He immediately looked dangerous after coming on. He could have scored with a bit more luck, and I really wanted him to find the net,” he said.
Robben, 28, has scored five goals in 12 Bundesliga appearances for Bayern this term.
