Robert Lewandowski linked with Real Madrid move

Every summer Bayern Munich’s star striker Robert Lewandowski seems to be linked with moves to Spain and England’s top teams. According to AS, via TalkSport, the Polish striker could well be heading to Spanish giants Real Madrid this summer. The 29-year-old star is believed to be highly interested in making the move, despite interest from Chelsea.

One of the best number nines in the world

Lewandowski is, without doubt, one of the best out-and-out number nines in the world game. The striker guarantees 20-plus goals a season. In fact, the Poland international has now scored 20-plus league goals in his last four seasons for Bayern.

His lowest league tally in the last seven years was back in season 2011/12, in his first season as a Bayern player when he scored a still respectable 17 goals in the Bundesliga. The former Dortmund striker has struck a century of goals for Bayern in the German top-flight in 121 appearances, a respectable record for any striker.

Due to his goalscoring prowess, Lewandowski is often linked with moves to the top teams in Europe, while already playing for one of the biggest clubs in the European game.

Any club would love Lewandowski in their team. However, only an elite number of clubs will have the resources to fund a move for the striker this summer.

Madrid set for a squad overhaul

Noises coming out of the Spanish capital suggest that Real Madrid’s squad is set for a big money overhaul this summer. Reportedly, Los Blancos are prepared to sell France international striker Karim Benzema to fund the signing of Lewandowski.

The move would be a big one for Zinedine Zidane’s side, as Benzema is the perfect foil for Cristiano Ronaldo. Signing Lewandowski would change the dynamic of the team.

However, with the creative players at Real, Lewandowski could be even more prolific. He would also be a good focal point for any team rebuilding, as the team from the Spanish capital have endured a difficult campaign.

A signing like Lewandowski would certainly be a signal of intent from the Spanish giants. Los Blancos as a club like a high-profile signing and Lewandowski would certainly be one of those.

He would fit into the ‘Galactico’ category of player that both Real Madrid fans and hierarchy seem to embrace. Overall, he seems like a perfect signing for the Spanish giants this summer.

Lewandowski could still win the Champions League this season

There may be speculation linking the striker with the European champions, but Lewandowski could still finish this season as a European champion himself, as Bayern are odds of 4/1 to win the Champions League, shorter odds than his new prospective employers.

Die Bayern are unlikely to be encouraging any moves for their star striker this summer. The Bavarian giants will do everything in their power to keep the Polish striker at the club and out of the hands of Real Madrid.

As previously mentioned Lewandowski seems to be linked with every top European club in every big transfer window. The player himself does very little to deny the rumours either, which fans the flames of a prospective move.

For me, the biggest winners from the striker joining Real Madrid are the Spanish club and Lewandowski’s agent. The striker will likely receive a bigger pay packet, but he is already on big money in Bavaria.

Bayern are a massive club themselves. However, it seems the lure of La Liga and playing with and against some of the world’s best players could be too much for the striker.

Will Robert Lewandowski be plying his trade at Real Madrid next season?
