Brazilian defender Roberto Carlos is set to be appointed as Anzhi interim coach, his teammate Joao Carlos has revealed.

Russian Premier League side Anzhi decided to sack coach Gadzhi Gadzhiev on Wednesday following the poor run of results.

They have started the search for the new boss, and in the meantime, the team will be led by defender Roberto Carlos.

The Brazilian legend will assume the position of player-coach until a new boss is appointed.

“He will assume the position until the arrival of new coach,” his teammate Joao Carlos told O Globo.

The Brazilian has already expressed his desire to remain at the club after his playing career is over.
