Brazilian striker Robinho looks set to be staying at Real Madrid, according to Spanish newspaper Marca.
Robinho was expected to join Premiership giants Chelsea, but Marca reports that Real Madrid has rejected the latest offer from Chelsea.
Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon was convinced that Real would accept their 32 million euros bid, but the Spanish side want 40 million euros for their highly rated striker.
Robinho has asked to leave Real Madrid in order to join Chelsea, but Real president Ramon Calderon believes the Brazilian has just been badly advised.
“I think it’s normal that a player says that he wants to leave and in the case of Robinho I accept that as being totally normal,” Calderon told Marca.
“It seems to me that it’s a mistake, but it’s his problem.
“I think that his representatives are advising him very badly and I have a lot of faith in the lad.
“I believe he has a lot of quality and could be successful here. But I say it again that I have to defend the interests of this club in the best manner possible.”
Marca says Robinho will now be forced to apologize to his teammates and the fans.
